ABOUT YOUR THERAPIST
I'm Evelynne
Why I do this work
I became a CBT therapist because anxiety had a significant impact on my own life. I know what it's like to experience intrusive thoughts you can't explain, to avoid things you'd rather not avoid, to feel like your mind is working against you. That's not something I talk about to make the sessions about me, but it does change how I listen.
I trained at King's College London and qualified with a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT. I hold BABCP accreditation, which is the UK gold standard for practising CBT, it requires clinical training, supervised practice hours, and ongoing development. Not everyone who offers CBT holds it, so it's worth asking.
"I keep my caseload small deliberately. Therapy only works if your therapist actually has time to think about your case, and you deserve that."
How I work
CBT is a structured, practical approach. It's not primarily about talking through your past (though context matters). The focus is on understanding the patterns — thoughts, feelings, behaviours — that are keeping the problem going right now, and changing them.
I'm warm, but I'll also be direct. If there's something that needs to be addressed or a behaviour that's maintaining the problem, I'll name it. The kindest version of therapy isn't always the most comfortable one.
I only work with anxiety-related difficulties. That's a conscious decision, it means I stay current with the best evidence, and my clients get a therapist who specialises in exactly what they're dealing with, rather than a generalist.
What sessions look like
All sessions are via secure video call on TEAMS. Sessions are 60 minutes. Most people start with weekly sessions, especially in the early stages when we're building momentum. We'll agree a frequency that makes sense for your situation.
Typically we'll spend the first session or two understanding your difficulty in detail, not just what it is, but what's keeping it going. From there we'll agree a plan and work through it together. There will usually be things to try between sessions, because real change happens in your life, not just in therapy hours.
Most people see meaningful change within 8–20 sessions. CBT isn't open-ended; the goal is for you not to need it long term.

A note on lived experience
I have personal experience of anxiety. I'm not going to say it makes me a better therapist, that's for clients to judge. What I will say is that it means I won't be surprised by anything you tell me, and I won't treat your experience as abstract. The work we do together is something I believe in because I've seen it work from both sides of the room.
HOW I APPROACH THE WORK
What you can expect from working with me
Structured and focused
Sessions have direction. We'll know what we're working on and why. CBT isn't vague — we'll track what's changing and adjust the plan if we need to.
Direct but kind
I'll tell you what I think. If something in the way you're approaching a problem is maintaining it, I'll say so, clearly, without making you feel judged for it.
Evidence-based only
I only use approaches with solid research backing. That's not a limitation — it means you're not paying for something that hasn't been shown to work.
